NYC'S Iconic Vintage Show Strikes again!

By Iris Stigell

The Manhattan Vintage Show never fails to surprise, shock and thrill its long line of eager shoppers and vintage enthusiasts.

The show features the largest collection of jewelry, clothing, accessories and antique textiles in the world.

Opening its doors on Friday the 3rd of February, the room was filled with furs, pearls, corsets, satin gloves, hats, pumps, scarves, and just about anything you can imagine! The room seemed to go on forever, leaving me overwhelmed with the sheer amount of choice.

With over 90 dealers there to showcase their finds and creations, from every era of fashion, the show is filled with ambitious, creative and loving energy.

Every one of the sellers seem to adore what they do, and find themselves filled with excitement and anticipation when this delightful day finally comes around. The room even offers its shoppers a sweet retreat at the end of the big room, otherwise known as the bar! After a few hours of browsing, sweating and perhaps even yelling (to get those dior pumps you saw that other girl eyeing), you might find yourself in dire need of that ‘after shop’ drink.

The amount of work and time that each of these dealers has put into putting together their highly curated selection of finds is remarkable.

I guarantee that with each passing stand, you will find a piece that will make you come to a halt. A piece that will make you feel as if they chose to put it there just for you. Maybe it’s that perfect three piece denim suit, or that cream balenciaga city bag you’ve been searching everywhere for. Whatever it might be, this selection will leave you feeling anything but disappointed.

What really takes the cake however, is the conversations you will have here.

Be it with the dealers, fellow shoppers or the roaming photographers, trying to snap a shot of every outstandingly bold dressed shopper that walks through the door, you will without a doubt make a new friend.

So if you can grab a ticket for the next time the show comes around, I highly recommend that you do! You’ll walk out a few dollars poorer, but a whole lot of vintage goods richer.
