LAFW: Inkover Streetwear Is Taking Over the Future
Inspired by elements of hip-hop and urban fashion, Inkover Streetwear brought a collection that focuses on the art of graffiti in LA Fashion Week this year. The brand is known for its form of comics from a tattoo sketch to actual graffiti art. This year, their collection encompassed the idea of futurism with mixed fabrics and laminate material.
The lights dim and the music begins to play as the first model makes his way down the runway. Every piece in each look portrayed the brand’s identity by including the logo. Aluminum jumpsuits, dresses and tracksuits for the women and graffiti t-shirts, shorts and pants for men. The colorways included red, black, and the radiating foiled pieces, which definitely highlighted space vibes.
A significant difference with this show was definitely the model choices. I noticed that a good amount of the models had tattoos, and I solely believed that was a compelling choice for the brand. Inkover is a brand that knows its target audience and can capture their identity and message through their clothing impeccably. Different variations of the same patterns and fabrics made their way down the runway, and more and more people were intrigued by the next piece. Even on the foil jumpsuits, Inkover had their logo on a belt wrapped around the model’s waist.
Ending the show with all the models in front of the stage, designer Camilo made his way down the runway to thank everyone for their support and presence.
Although some looks were more simple than others, the collection had one goal and succeeded.
These are real-like streetwear fashion that anyone can wear. Sometimes, conventional is the way to go because at the end of the day, we all have our target audience, right? And Inkover found theirs and captured them.
