Business of Fashion 500: How It Makes and Seals Your Career in the Fashion Industry
Remember in high school when we had our Top 50 students ranked highest in our class? So imagine that, but within fashion. The Business of Fashion shares its 7th annual BoF 500, which is a list of members who have shaped the global fashion industry. Don’t let the term fool you, hundreds of members are actually not designers. More than 70 different nationalities, this extensive list includes a group of designers, models, actors, musicians, and entrepreneurs.
This year’s list welcomes Travis Scott, Peggy Gou, Mike Amiri, Daniel Lee and many more. Models and actresses include Indya Moore, Zendaya and Alton Mason. Featuring many new members this year, Business of Fashion also decided to move into a new direction that will not only move the industry in an even more positive realm, but also let the individuals be recognized forever for their many talents. BoF 500 will no longer remove members from their list, instead, each year, they will add 100 new members moving forward.
The BoF 500 celebrates the many industry professionals and their accomplishments throughout the year; however, that is not all it does. In each profile, the individual is identified in their biography, which tells the history behind their brand, where they came from, how they got their inspiration, and all that other good stuff. Aside from their biography section, the members also get their very own ‘Vital Statistics’ section, which lists his or her birthday, nationality and location. Having one’s nationality recognized is definitely a huge statement because it not only represents where one comes from, but also how anybody anywhere can be anything they want. The list is a platform for the 500+ people in the world to show their diversity, artistry and creativity.
Recognizing each individual for their impact and hard work is a huge factor in the fashion industry because without it, where would one get the motivation and encouragement to continue to do for they love doing? Gratification is key and that’s the whole point of the BoF 500.
