Battle For Today's "It" Bag Title: Christian Dior The Saddle vs. Bottega Veneta The Pouch
“Balls are to men, what purses are to women. It’s just a little bag but we’d feel naked in public without it,” quoted by the genius herself, Miss Carrie Bradshaw. Now that we have established the true importance behind owning a handbag, let’s discuss the two most popular bags that have subjugated the world in this past year.
Christian Dior’s The Saddle Bag
Every year there is the new “it” bag that every woman wants and needs. But does it always have to be “new”? How about reinvented? We are all so familiar with John Galliano’s notorious Dior Saddle Bag that was designed in the 90s and brought back in 2018. The Saddle Bag had its debut on Carrie Bradshaw’s arm, where she wore it to visit Aidan’s furniture store. Last year, the bag made its comeback in several different colors and prints being worn by Instagram influencers such as Danielle Bernstein, models like Amanda Steele and celebrities like Beyonce. The point is -- everybody is a fan. The bag has been an icon for years in the fashion world due to its unique saddle-shape and extensive range of patterns and colorways. Now that it is being reinterpreted by Maria Chiuri, the opportunities are endless.
Bottega Veneta’s The Pouch Bag
Not only does it seem like Bottega Veneta has its eyes set on dropping the new “it” bag, but the Italian house also seems to be dominating the world with its exciting revival. The brand has undergone some huge changes such as appointing a new creative director, Daniel Lee. Bloggers and celebrities have seemed to move on from the Saddle, and are now obsessed with the Pouch bag, which immediately sold out on the luxury retailer’s website once it had dropped. The brand is known for its luxurious items and meticulous craftsmanship. It’s no wonder every girl wants her hands on this piece; it’s extremely soft and the perfect shape to transition from your day to night look.
Both luxury houses are great, both bags are great and unique to its own brand. Regardless of what year it is or where fashion has taken us, your purse should always feel like an “it” bag. The concept of always trying to purchase the newest “it” bag is overrated. Wear whatever purse you got, and make it YOUR “it” bag!
