Stop Right There: Why You Should Give Gel Polish A Break
Honesty moment: We have all at some point been addicted to gel polish at some point or another. It’s so glossy and smooth and lasts way longer than regular polish. It’s understandable and a totally valid addiction. But if you’ve gotten gel nails before, you know that it can be a bit taxing on your nails.
I’m sad to say you need to give up the gel sis. I know your nails feel strong an invincible when you have on gel, but have you paid attention to your nails once the gel is removed? Mine were always very thin and brittle and so close to breaking that I immediately threw on a new set of gel. Here is how you can step away and get the healthy nails you deserve.
Strengthening Solution
The reason why we love gel so much is because it makes our nails feel nice and thick without having to apply false nails. Would you believe me when I say it’s possible to get the same feel with your own nails? Find a strengthening base coat that will thicken your nails. My holy grail is OPI Nail envy. Ever since I started using it I haven’t looked back. In fact, people often believe I still wear gel polish; it’s that good.
Top Coat
The other alluring things about gel polish is how glossy they look and for so long. In todays market there is literally a top coat for everything thing you need and a shine is at the top of the list. They even offer plumping topcoats that will give you that gel effect at home that are easy to remove with polish remover. My favorite right now is CND Vinyl Lux. The entire CND line is built to last up to 10 days.
