These Podcasts Hosted By Fashion Moguls Will Open Doors Towards Your Fashion Career

By Claudia Langella

Everyone and their mother has a favorite podcast they want to tell you about—or invite you on as a guest! Streaming platforms are flooded with new podcasts each month, which is both a blessing and a curse. With so much to choose from, you’re bound to find a niche subject that interests you. Or, you might be wildly overwhelmed by the plethora of offerings.

We’re obsessed by what fashion tastemakers have to say, so that’s who we’re listening to when we go on a walk around the neighborhood or on a drive to the grocery store. We’ve picked five great pods that will have you hooked after listening to just one episode. Some of these are plain entertaining, and others are super educational.

“The Business of Fashion” by The Business of Fashion

The Business of Fashion is one of the most reputable sources for fashion news and reports. In their podcast, insiders sit down with some of the biggest names in the industry to talk about where they got their start or where they think the future of fashion will take their brand. Some recents guests include Michael Kors, Harlem Fashion Row Chief Executive Brandice Daniel and supermodel Amber Valletta. Talks aren’t fixed around what is trending on the runway or on social media; “The Business of Fashion” aims for a meaningful dialogue with episodes that focus on diversity, the demise of Fashion Week and how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the industry for good.

“Everything is the Best” by Pia Baroncini

LPA is one of our favorite brands to shop on Revolve, so when Creative Director Pia Baroncini started her podcast “Everything is the Best” while everyone was well into quarantine, we tuned in immediately. Baroncini sits down with some familiar names—like Kristin Crawley of KNC Beauty and Carla Oates of The Beauty Chef—getting to the nitty gritty of their brands and daily schedules. Her goal as a host is to inspire others to live their best lives, even if the days in between point A and point B aren’t too hot. The conversations are both eye opening and entertaining—perfect background noise while you’re making dinner for yourself!

“InCharge with DVF” by Diane von Furstenberg

Diane von Furstenberg is a girlboss, but we’ve known that for years. The fashion icon turned her #InCharge campaign into a podcast where she interviews women you know and love (think Charlize Theron, Anita Hill and Karlie Kloss) to find out how each of them has overcome obstacles in their personal lives and careers. She invites both listeners and guests to tap into their vulnerability in order to discover the roots of their strength.

“Fashion Victims Podcast” by Luke Meagher and Darnell Jamal

“Fashion Victimes Podcast” is hosted by fashion historian Darnell Jamal and Luke Meagher aka Haute Le Mode. It’s a fun listen, combining fashion industry news and gossip—they spill ALL the tea. Most recently they’ve talked about the costumes and design in Beyoncé’s new “Black Is King” release and men’s fashion week. But most importantly, they discuss diversity issues that have surfaced in recent months—like problems at Jacquemus and the formation of the Kelly Initiative and the Black in Fashion Council.

“DIOR TALKS” by DIOR

Have you ever wondered how a famed fashion house keeps its gears well-oiled? If so, then “DIOR TALKS” is the podcast for you. The show is now in its third season, and we’ve got our fingers crossed that it’ll be back for a fourth. A brand led by a powerful woman, Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri, the changing hosts focus on two main themes: “Feminist Art” and “Female Gaze.” There are also a handful of “Heritage” episodes in which the history of the Dior House is discussed. In a recent episode British journalist Charlotte Jansen talks to photographer Paola Vivas about her experience as a young female photographer working with big brands like Dior. This series is a perfect match for you if you’ve found yourself in a creative rut over the last few months.
