Selena Gomez Launches A Beauty Collection In Support of Mental Health Awareness and Inclusivity

By Claudia Langella

Another musician-actress has turned herself into a triple threat. Queue Selena Gomez the beauty mogul!

Gomez has spent the majority of her life in the limelight, so she knows how important it is to feel beautiful on the inside. That’s just what she had in mind when building her new makeup like Rare Beauty.

“Supporting the mental health of our community, employees, and partners is core to everything we do,” reads the brand’s website. The first collection of foundation, concealer, lip products and much more just launched at Sephora, so shop the first drop before it sells out!

With the sales of her new line, Gomez hopes to break the stigma around mental health through the Rare Impact Fund. The initiative was founded with the goal of raising $100 million over the next decade—one percent of every sale will help close the gaps in mental health services in underserved communities. The brand formed the Rare Beauty Mental Health Council, consisting of experts in the healthcare industry, to “guide the company’s strategy to ensure maximum impact.” A lot of thought has gone into it, so we’re happy to make a purchase!

Gomez wants people to feel comfortable in their own skin and her makeup. We are all unique and makeup should be used as a tool to enhance our individual beauty—not cover up the imperfections.

“I think Rare Beauty can be more than a beauty brand—it can make an impact. I want us all to stop comparing ourselves to each other and just start embracing our own uniqueness,” Gomez said on the brand’s site

Each product is under $30, making it accessible to as many customers as possible. We’re excited to try the Liquid Touch Weightless Foundation formulated without any harsh parabens or sulfites. The Soft Pinch Liquid Blush gives you that tickled-pink look and the With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm is the perfect little lippy to throw in your bag! With over forty foundation hues to choose from, Rare Beauty is an inclusive line that we’ll be incorporating into our daily looks.
