Non Basic Guide To Combat Quarantine Boredom....You're Welcome

It has almost been two weeks of self-quarantining, and if you’re anything like me, you’re definitely feeling bored. You’ve done it all. You’ve binge watched tons of movies on Netflix, put in countless watch time on Tik Tok, and you’ve even tried at-home workouts. If you ask anyone else for suggestions on things to do, they’ll probably come up with the exact same things you’ve been told by the whole world: “watch some movies, read a book, do a workout!” Real talk - if someone tells me to do a workout one more time I’m gonna throw some (sanitized) hands.

So, as a cure to your boredom, here are 17 things to do in self-quarantine that aren’t run-of-the-mill. Don’t worry, we kept them non-basic. You won’t hear us say, “do at home workouts” here. The broken record ends here. These unique ideas will cure your boredom, and keep your mental health in check. Share them with other babes who need inspiration too!

1.  Now is the perfect time to really experiment with your makeup and go crazy. As a bonus task, clean your makeup brushes because they’re probably nasty as hell.

2. Learn a language! You’ll have plenty of time to be fluent!

3. Hold a “Pinot & Paint” night, either with your roommates or by yourself. Drink some wine, paint if you have the supplies (or draw) and let the creativity flow. You can also do this with others via FaceTime, Skype, Instagram Live, etc.

4. Love Harry Potter? Then you’re going to love this Hogwarts Digital Escape Room.

5. Use this time to grow yourself a mini kitchen garden!

6. If your best friends are self-quarantining all over the country, make it a fun night and host a themed online happy hour. Dress up as 80’s babes or a simple white-out theme and drink the night away.

7.  Got a pet? Teach them a cool trick! None of this high-five bullshit though. Try teaching your fur ball how to jump through your arms.

8.  Make a breakfast charcuterie board. Why? Well, why the hell not?

9.  Figure out what your post-quarantine outfit will be. Since you’ll probably Instagram your first outing, you’ll want to make sure you look cute.

10.  Want to see artwork in the Louvre? Take a tour of the Vatican? Want to learn about Women’s History through cool exhibits? Take some online tours of museums!

11.  Organize that junk drawer you have. You literally have nothing better to do.

12.  If you live with roommates, put a different bottle of wine in every room of your place and hold a “wine tour.” Go to each room, have a glass of wine, then move to the next room, and repeat.

13.  Do what these people did, but self-quarantine style: host a Skype party where everyone prepares a 3-minute lecture on something they’re passionate about. No serious topics allowed!

14.  Download the app Houseparty and invite your friends to do the same. It’s an app where you can facetime your friends while you play games, answer trivia, and just hang out self-quarantine style.

15.  Lots of musicians are performing on Instagram live, so catch one of your favorite artist’s performances!

16.  If you’re online shopping (let’s get real, of course we are) then consider buying from local small businesses. Order Chinese food from the place down the street, a T-shirt from that boutique across town, or buy cupcakes from a family owned business and help keep these gems going!

17.  Binge read Exhibit A, duh.
