LAFW: RSquared Atelier Embodies Minimalism with Complexity
It seems as though we have strayed away from the traditional strutting down the runway and transitioned into a presentation form. This year at LA Fashion Week, RSquared Atelier showcased their avant-garde menswear featuring all monochromatic shades of black.
As the dramatic, electronic music begins to play, model after model walk down the aisle and make their way to their side of the runway. Complete and utter poker face with abstract lines drawn on their faces, the male models each lined up impeccably under a ray of blue light. The audience are flashing their phones and cameras as the music gets more dramatic. The designer utilized different shapes and forms of the same colorway, which made the collection so unique. Each look seemed minimal when just glancing at; however, when you speculate the looks from head-to-toe, you realize how much complex thinking has been put into each and every ensemble. Inspiration seemed to have been acquired through avant-garde fashion. The concept of having different layers, lengths, and pieces being draped in several different ways really brought out the distinctive style of the designer.
The collection epitomizes the definition of avant-garde because it was anything by far unconventional. Each look pushed its boundaries in fashion and art. It was experimental and radical, which defied conventions and made its bold statement. RSquared Atelier emphasized the innovative designs their brand has to offer and they are not afraid to take risks and think forward.
