Jacquemus: The French Designer Giving Resort Style A Whole New Level
Oversized is overrated. King of the tiny-bags, Jacquemus continues to take the world by storm with his new bracelet strap and buckle. Although it seems to be one of the most impractical pieces to own, it’s a micro accessory that has grown and continues to populate the industry. Celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber cannot seem to get enough of the brand.
Remember last summer, Instagram had 100s of photos and reposts of the huge floppy straw hat? Yes, that was created by French fashion house Jacquemus. Fans like Kylie Jenner recreated the image. Today, the brand is officially celebrating their 10-year anniversary with a hot pink runway in a lavender field in Provence.
Designer Simon Porte Jacquemus, 29, was raised in the village of Mallemort, which had a small population of about 6,000 people. He was brought up as a country kid and his parents specialized in farming. The self-taught designer defies traditional conventions and plays with the idea of structure and proportion in his designs. Being that the brand has been around for quite some time now, it seems to be gaining a lot of momentum lately.
Jacquemus is popular for their dresses, totes, mix-matched shoes and super mini bag. The palettes always seem to be very summer-like and bright, which I think intrigues many. Their ever-so popular Le Chiquiti Mini Bag varies in color and sizes. The smallest of the sizes has only the “J” as the logo and can barely carry your keys. It’s an unconventional and impractical bag that will not hold anything of mine, but I want it!
At this age and time, Jacquemus has already made quite the name for himself in the industry. The brand seems to be everywhere on social media and IRL.
