Bea Dixon: Setting The Bar For Black Female Entrepreneurs With 'The Honey Pot Co.'

We’ve all got hygiene woes. Some products work for others, while they don’t quite do the trick for you. It can be tough navigating the aisles of your local drugstore in search of products that fit into your routine, and are both good for the Earth and good for your body. Here is where Bea Dixon of The Honey Pot Company steps in to save the day.

While she herself was trying to find a product to cure her vaginosis, she looked to herbs. After an ancestor visited her in a dream, she stepped into her kitchen and started cooking up the products that now comprise her company.

“I created the Honey Pot Co to solve for what other brands wouldn't, using the power of herbs,” she says on her company’s website. “I was suffering from bacterial vaginosis for months and couldn't get relief.”

The products that she stands behind are free from chemicals, toxins and artificial fragrances. The Honey Pot Co, with Dixon’s expertise, promises their customers that their products will have them feeling fresh and clean—all while fighting against bacteria that irritates the vagina.

Three systems exist, giving customers the option to truly pinpoint what’s bothering them: The Normal, The Sensitive and the Mommy-to-Be. The Normal and The Sensitive systems promise to “wash away odor-causing bacteria, hydrate your vulva, and balance your pH” all with the power of natural ingredients like apple cider vinegar, grapefruit seed extract and lavender. The Mommy-to-Be system uses similar ingredients to help new mothers heal postpartum with “a product that is both functional and safe,” says co-founder and CEO Beatrice Espada. There are also a number of other products like the Refreshing Panty Spray, bath bombs, body balm and lubricant—of course, all crafted with natural ingredients. Each product is created by people with vaginas for people with vaginas, and the company’s site boasts that “it takes one to know one.” All three systems are approved by gynecologists and backed by a series of clinical tests. Think it can’t get better? It does!

The Honey Pot Co partners with charities that reach out to people with vaginas who do not have easy access to hygiene products like tampons, liners and pads.

“Feminine care is not a luxury, it’s a human right,” Dixon says proudly. “We're proud to partner with #HappyPeriod to help give women in need the dignity they deserve.” Happy Period provides the homeless low income communities with menstrual products they need to get by.
