3 Fashion Brands Making Cool Clothes with Earth-Friendly Fabrics

The fashion industry’s pollution problem is real, and more brands - both established and emerging - are putting their “foot” down when it comes to reducing carbon footprint. (Fashion puns are everything!) One of the ways these brands are creating more environmentally sustainable practices is by using earth-friendly fabrics.

One favorite fiber among eco-conscious brands is organic cotton; it’s way better for the environment because the crops are grown without pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, and genetically modified organisms, all of which are extremely harmful to the health of farm workers and eco-systems.

But let’s be honest, cute still comes first. If a dress is made from organic fabric, but it looks like a potato sac, I’m not buying it. I definitely care about the environment, but I’m not willing to look basic; or worse, like I belong barefoot in the woods eating wild berries and hugging trees. Can we reduce our fashion-related carbon footprint and still look stylish? Absolutely!

Here are a few brands I can totally get behind not only for their eco-friendly fabrics but also because their clothes are legit cute.

Amour Vert

I’ve purchased a few things from this beautiful store. I love their curated collection of sustainable clothing, jewelry, and even shoes! They stock beautiful garments made from non-polluting fabrics and a wide selection of items manufactured domestically. Plus, for every T-shirt sold, they plant a tree! Here are a few fab finds:

This brand is great when you’re shopping for something on-trend. They pay living wages and make clothes from sustainable and/or upcycled fabrics. Much of their offering is also made in the USA. You can check out this page for awesome info on the sustainable fabrics they use. Check these favorites:

I always feel warm and fuzzy inside when I know the garment I just bought didn’t cause harm to people or the planet. Give it a try. You might like how sustainable fashion feels, (as long as it looks cute, though.)
