NYFW: Those Romantic Feels at Jiri Kalfar F/W 2019
From the very first look all the way to the love-fest finale between designer and his model muses, it was a whole lotta lace and lovey dovey feels at Jiri Kalfar last night.
The ever-revered Swedish supermodel Paulina Porizkova set the coquettish tone with playfully suggestive smiles and expressive eyes as she walked out in monochrome fire-engine red. The look was composed of thigh-high boots, a bouncy lace mini skirt, and a glossy long-sleeved high neck blouse that subliminally summoned a sudden desire for a very large bed and slippery satin sheets. The way she captivated the room and exuded a palpable yet effortlessly light-hearted friskiness in an ensemble that ironically covered nearly every inch of her skin was truly special to see.
Lace, with Extra Lace, And A Side of Lace
Kalfar’s use of the dreamy open fabric on big, billowing silhouettes created a sense of medieval romance, as if to sweep us off our feet and carry us away on a strong white horse.
Modern Stripes
He grounded a few of the looks with the use of relatable stripes but keeps the fantasy going by juxtaposing the conventional print with barely-there sheer and lace edits.
Colors Fit For A Queen
Regal jewel tones and filigree prints made for fantasies of a quirky royalty romance!
Love Fest
I couldn’t help smiling when designer and muses showed such a jubilant celebration of this whimsical collection. I imagined pre-show fittings filled with tea, cookies, frolicking violin music, and heads thrown back in unencumbered laughter.
