Trend Alert: Yes, You Can Wear Sneakers With Dresses, And Not Look Like A Third Grader

I've noticed that some of the best street style stars are definitely pulling off sneakers and dresses effortlessly this year. At first I loved the look with casual “every day” dresses but now noticing that sneakers can be the perfect touch to a fancy gown to make them look the right amount of cool.

Sneakers and dresses are becoming extremely popular in high fashion. You’ll notice that most brands are coming out with their own elevated sneakers to pair with a dress without a second thought. With more options than ever before, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can make this look my own. When first thinking about how I could own this, I started thinking about a lot of dresses I own. But pairing a girly dress with sneakers could sometimes make you feel like you look like a kindergartener. Here are 6 sneakers and dresses pairings that are straight from the street-style stars themselves, along with a recommended pieces to buy to get you started.

For Any Occasion

The most important thing to know about wearing sneakers with dresses is knowing that you are pairing a piece that is supposed to be more “dressy” with something that is meant for daily use. I love the contradiction of these two pieces, because the pairing makes it perfect to be at almost any occasion. I like this combination in particular because it takes a summer dress, adds a sweater to make it more comfortable for other seasons, and a pair of sneakers to keep it casual for travel or hanging out downtown for the day.

I look up to Street-Style Start Jenny Walton because she has a talent for styling her own pieces. Some fashion people wear one piece once and then are never seen in it ever again, but Jenny shows us how to wear our most treasured pieces any way we want. In this outfit, Jenny mixes high and low by combining a Gucci sweater with a colorful Zara skirt and low-top converse to pull the high and low together.
