Taylor Swift Celebrates Fashion Sustainability On New Cover of British Vogue
Fashion has taken a turn, and sustainability is now an important factor with most brands. Singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift is all for sustainability in fashion and chooses to contribute in all ways possible. Featured on the January cover of British Vogue, Taylor wore an archive Chanel tweed jacket from the 2005/2006 collection. In doing so, she plans to initiate a sustainable notion of advancing the fashion world towards a viable future.
“I wanted to put a vintage Chanel jacket on the cover of Vogue because I feel that, with the global climate crisis, we all have to do what we can to contribute to the conversation around sustainability,” explains Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful. “Fashion shouldn’t feel disposable: the best clothes can be worn time and time again and have the quality of both design and craftsmanship to ensure their staying power, he says. By utilizing the Chanel jacket, the purpose is to signify the ultimate luxury piece that has never gone out of fashion and never will. When putting that piece on a celebrity like Taylor, it will drive influence and also motivate and inspire people around the world to do what they can to live a sustainable life. Wearing a piece like the Chanel tweed jacket will always be a classic. Like Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion passes, style remains.”
