Sealing The Slay: Accessories Worth Investing A Little More On
Lately there has been a surge of high end shopping on my Instagram feed. Obviously, fashion is a billion dollar industry and has been long before our generation. But we’re seeing more and more young people take part and really steer the direction of where fashion is going. With that being said, I know you’ve seen your fave celebrities with all the latest and greatest which can confuse some. Is it necessary to spend that much to be stylish? What is worth the money and what is not? Do not fret my friend, let’s discuss. (CLICK IMAGES BELOW TO SHOP)
Everyday Bag
This is one item I think we can all agree is worth spending a bit more on. You want it to last, be stylish, and most importantly, functional. You should be able to go from work to happy hour without feeling as if you need to hide it. Big enough for your laptop but not so big that you feel like you are carrying a suitcase. I myself go for a leather bag since I know the wear will be great. I got this Madewell Transport Carryall and I could not be happier with it. Here are some other options:
Everyday Jewelry
Do you see a trend forming here? Pieces that you know you are going to wear everyday you should: 1 – love looking at & 2 – be durable. Everyday jewelry can be big and bold or small and dainty, whatever your style may be. I always suggest getting at least one good pair of earrings (a stud or hoop), and a nice ring or necklace. My diamond studs were my college graduation gift and as often as I wear them, they have paid for themselves twice over.
Good Shoes
If you live in a walking city like NYC, Chicago, etc. you know how important it is to have good shoes on your feet. They need to be comfortable but I am vain so also very cute. No commuter shoes for me; I want to wear these on my walk to the train and at the office. You for sure do not want a cheap thrill here. I have my eye on this pair from Staud because I know I would wear them so much. Shoes are literally the anchors of your look so I believe in investing in a few good pairs for different occasions: work, formal, casual, & going out.
Small Bag
This might seem like an odd choice but hear me out. I like to invest in one to two small fun bags. Time to throw out your old beat up going out bag. Reach for something fun but wearable that can easily slide on to your shoulder or be worn as a cross body for safekeeping. With age come better accessories. This red number from Madewell has been calling my name to spice up my usual black wardrobe.
