SantaCon NYC: The Most Festive Bar Crawl In The World
Shopping, drinking, Christmas decorations and frequent Santas roaming the streets of New York City— welcome to SantaCon NYC, where thousands of people have dressed up as ol’ Saint Nick and hit the town. The general gist of SantaCon is when people dress up like Santa Clause and simply party and bar-crawl. All you need is a “Santa” costume. The event has been held over several cities in the world, but the infamous New York event remains at the top.
Believe it or not, the event is suppose to be a “charitable, non-political, nonsensical Santa Claus convention” to celebrate and donate to local charities. The event dates back to the 90s and it has been a tradition since then. Many New Yorkers revel in the idea of Santa Con, while others do not. Some people are reported being in altercations on the subways and others are getting way too drunk. The famous Mr. Gucci Mane himself attended the event this year in the Big Apple, where he strutted his Santa Claus outfit. Gucci of course wore something a bit more flamboyant and grandiose: a red turtleneck and a his diamond chain and other extravagant pieces of jewelry, along with a long white fur coat. He also couldn’t go without the Santa hat of course. Strolling through the streets of NYC, most people were wearing the classic Santa costumes or simple red sweaters, so you know Gucci stood out for sure.
Not only is this event for a great cause but it is also an enjoyable and witty way to spend your holiday season by dressing up as Santa in your own way.
