Queen Elizabeth: Britain's Light Passes Away

I remember when I was a little girl, I would always be fascinated by the royals in England. I would talk with friends in a British accent, I’d watch period dramas on PBS, and I would try to copy the styles of Princess Diana with my mom’s clothing.

But, most of all I was always blown away by the intensity of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. She held up the British monarchy and the people of England during so many historical turns and twists. She worked with countless world leaders, who are now the greatest historical figures throughout time. She made groundbreaking decisions for her country and others, as thousands looked up to her for hope. All of this, while also being a mother, and a wife.

Needless to say, she had quite the responsibility as Queen of Britain. No move went unnoticed. For many, especially the British people, she was their light. Today, September 8, 2022, that light has been turned off. Queen Elizabeth, the longest reigning monarch in history, passed away at 96 years old.
