Olivia Palermo To Launch New Collection For Karl Lagerfeld

Since Mr. Lagerfeld’s recent passing many have wondered what would happen to his name sake brand? In steps Olivia Palermo, yes that Olivia Palermo, to introduce the first collaboration with the brand since his passing earlier this year. And if you’re thinking this is a reach for Olivia you might want to think again. She actually has a history in fashion and with Karl Lagerfeld himself.

The last time millions of Americans saw Olivia on a regular basis she was busy on MTV’s The City, being our resident mean girl everyone loved to hate. However, even before that she had a career in fashion working at Diane von Furstenberg and Elle Magazine. Fast forward 10 years and she has gone from behind the scenes to front and center being the face of many an ad campaigns and gracing the covers of magazines. Throughout her years since her reality TV show stint, Palermo has been photographed with Lagerfeld quite often and seen at his many Chanel productions. As for the extent of their relationship one can only imagine these two had a personal connection strong enough to warrant a collaboration.

So, what can we expect from this line? You guessed it: black and white everything. The collaboration will consist of 24 items from Karl Lagerfeld’s fall 2019 collection styled by Palermo and five custom pieces including a leather biker jacket with “Forever Karl” graffiti style on the front. My take? Original – not so much. Paying tribute to Karl? Yes indeed. Remember, this was the man who wore a leather biker jacket like no other. No word on price point yet but expect it to be lower than Chanel.
