Nightlife: Extinct or Forever Changed After Coronavirus?

Coronavirus, COVID-19, The Cornonis, Rona, whatever you would like to call this monstrosity, it’s changed every aspect of humanity as we know it. With plenty of time to think in isolation, I reflect back on the absolutely sketchy activities I participated in. They definitely warranted some type of infection, but I got away unscathed.

For instance, an average night out in da’club, my girlfriends and I sipped on each other's drinks and “helped'' finish them if needed, but nothing paired better with  my buzz  than a nice Virginia Slim bummed off a cute guy I saw smoking outside. Now, we can put on our judgement caps if we want to, but those were some good times.

Upon arrival, the night starts out in close proximity: waiting in line with strangers, waiting in another line for the girls bathroom, getting through the dance floor. It's all touchy-touchy, with body fluids everywhere, sweat, vomit, tears, you name it, the body juice found  in club scenes alone is cringe worthy. What will the club and entertainment leaders do to protect their customers?

Contactless Strip Clubs

According to TMZ and their club resources (which I trust are very valuable) stated that strip club owners are constructing post pandemic plans. Brace yourselves, but there is talk of no more lap dances. Dancers will be wearing masks and gloves, and there will be no more physical contact with said dancer. If I were in a marketing position  for strip clubs, I would create a whole re-brand. There would be themes like “Arabian Nights” so the girls feel confident wearing masks, the staff can dress like a sexy Disney’s Aladdin movie and another night would be “ Lace and Latex,”  my pitch would be, “The mission for the future gentlemen clubs is making hygiene sexy.”

Social Interaction at a Premium Price

EDM.com predicts in some cases Social interaction will come at a premium price, since there’s going to be more value in being outside and social. Positive news for up and coming artists, now is your chance. Venues will not be able to pay for the high ticket artist, so new DJ’s, bands, and entertainment will get a chance at their big break. There will be no more wall flowers, EDM. com  says there will be a Saturday Night Fever  revival, everyone on the dance floor shaking out their quarantine quirks.

China is Trying It

At OIL Club in Shenzhen, a city that borders Hong Kong, crowd turnout is on the low side because some people are still afraid to go out, cofounders Yangyang Song and Huiyuan Sun told Resident Advisor. "Many people aren't willing to stay late for parties now, so events also end earlier than before," they said.

China has been in the process of recovery since March, there are some clubs already open over there, let me just say based off the pictures it does not look pretty. Grinding on each other, but still wearing masks looks sad. However there are parts of China now with a zero death rate related to COVID-19 in addition to no positive cases, so they are giving their clubs a test run. People are still peaking outside to make sure the Rona wont get them, so traffic is still slow, but China gives us hope to see a day where there are zero COVID-19 related cases, killing our summer vibes.
