Lessons During COVID that Taught me How to Love
By Betti Halsell
This is my first global pandemic and I have reverted back to a child-like learning ability. I am absorbing each experience during this time of COVID-19 like a sponge. I see things from a different perspective. During this time in my life, family trauma has trudged up from an abyss of suppression, new ideas of creativity have blossomed, and the world has literally changed.
The cosmic energy of everyday life is in flux, I feel everything that was bubbling has now erupted. The lessons I learned in this moment molded me into the person I always wanted to be. I learned to see myself, therefore I have more compassion for other people.
Loving people through their character is a skill no one talks about, but everyone sees. I understand that the person with a lot of genuine friends, is the same person who accepts people for who they are.
COVID-19 has revealed many true characters, and as an empath I can feel them all ten fold. The only thing I can do is love people through this, and try my best to be aware of my energy. It is hard to not react impulsively, especially during these times it is important to keep the love for humanity.
It is extremely hard to remain open during this time of stress, but I believe love and compassion is the real cure. There needs to be more mindfulness in every aspect of life, the only thing that gets me through some days is the patience I have for others. I understand that life right now is rough, and if I can be that light that makes the day better, I prefer to be on that side of the spectrum.
