How Jewel Summer Walk Turned a High School Mood Board Into a Swimwear Brand
When I first came across Jewel Summer Walk, I immediately noticed her style. She has that natural “It Girl” quality, the kind you cannot manufacture, beautiful, confident, and looks cool without trying too hard. But the more I learned, the more I realized her style may be the least interesting thing about her.
Jewel founded Jewel Summer, a swimwear and lifestyle brand she began as a high school sophomore. It started with a mood board and an idea for simple pieces girls could make their own.
I love stories like this because they remind me that some people do not wait for the perfect time to begin.
In a recent interview with MUUZ, Jewel discussed the brand’s beginnings, her family’s influence, and what she has learned as a young founder.

Who Is Jewel Summer Walk?
Jewel was raised in New York City and spent her summers in Water Mill on Long Island’s East End. Both parts of her upbringing appear in her brand.
She wanted to create versatile basics that girls could style according to their own personalities. A top could be worn with bikini bottoms at the beach, then paired with jeans, a skirt, or a cardigan.
That may sound simple, but it says a lot about her as a designer. Instead of telling every girl how to look, Jewel wants the girl who wears the clothes to finish the story herself.
She Was an Entrepreneur Before Jewel Summer
I was surprised to learn that Jewel Summer was not her first business.
At 14, she launched Chachi Skin, an all-natural, cruelty-free skincare brand. While most girls her age were still figuring out who they were, Jewel was already learning to turn an idea into a product.
By her sophomore year of high school, Jewel was developing Jewel Summer. A mood board and two styles eventually grew into a complete collection.
The Real Reason She Created the Brand
What interested me most was why Jewel started the brand. She did not start simply because she loved bikinis or wanted her name on a label. Jewel has spoken honestly about how social media gives young women endless reasons to compare themselves. She described social media as negative and self-defeating. She wanted to create clothes that made girls feel like confident, positive versions of themselves.
She sells swimwear, but what she really wants to give women is the rush of confidence that comes from putting on something new, looking in the mirror, and immediately feeling better.
In the MUUZ interview, Jewel recalled a customer who felt down, then put on a Jewel Summer bikini and felt beautiful again. The story showed her the business was making a real impact.
Clothing cannot solve every problem, but the right outfit can change how a woman carries herself, and sometimes that is exactly what she needs.
Family Is Part of the Brand
The more I read about Jewel, the more I understood how much her family shapes both her confidence and her company.
Her mother, Lauren Walk, is one of her greatest inspirations and style influences, someone who can find an item anywhere and style it as if it came from a magazine.
Her sister, Jade Walk, is another inspiration. Jewel sees Jade as naturally cool and effortless, and even named a bikini after her.
That's another personal detail I love about the company: Jewel names her bikinis after women she admires. Each name represents a real person and relationship.
Her brothers, Jesse and Jagger, also support the business by helping her brainstorm ideas and sell products.
Jewel Summer may have Jewel’s name on it, but the brand was built with a family standing behind her.

What Kind of Founder Is Jewel?
Jewel seems like the kind of girl who dreams big and does the work. She believes in manifestation: writing down her goals, saying them aloud, and being specific about what she wants.
She is also not afraid to ask.
Her mother raised her with a saying: “Closed mouths never get fed.” If you never speak up, ask, or introduce yourself, you may never receive the opportunity.
I love that advice because many young women are taught to be talented but quiet, hoping someone will notice their work without telling what they need or want. Jewel understands that building a business takes confidence before the outside world gives you a reason to feel it.
She admires her mother’s style, her sister’s effortlessness, and Devon Lee Carlson’s fun energy. Jewel does not want to be the only confident and cool girl in the room; she wants other girls to recognize that quality in themselves.

Starting Before You Feel Ready
Jewel’s advice to other young women is simple: if you are passionate about something, begin. Take the risk and do not be embarrassed to try.
It would have been easy to believe she was too young to launch a skincare company at 14 or too inexperienced to develop swimwear in high school. She could have waited for college, graduation, more money, or the fashion industry’s permission.
Those taken risks have led her to incredible moments: a pop-up at Montauk General, influencer attention, and growth beyond two original styles. Jewel would love to see Hailey Bieber or Kylie Jenner wear the brand, and she hopes Kris Jenner will someday carry one of her purses.
Why I Wanted to Share Her Story
I wanted to write about Jewel because she is not just wearing fashion; she is learning to design, market, and build a community around it.
Jewel is still young, and her story is unfolding. She has discussed adding menswear and expanding through new products and collaborations, but no one knows what she will create next.
Jewel Summer Walk is the kind of young woman I want Femmefluence to celebrate: stylish, curious, confident, ambitious, family-oriented, and eager to help other women feel confident too.
Jewel may look like an It Girl on Instagram, but behind the image is a young founder learning, designing, and taking risks.
And honestly, that is much more interesting.
