Hosting Tips That Will Steal the Show at Your Friendsgiving
Halloween is over and it’s time to bust out the spiked cider and gravy boats: it’s Thanksgiving season, ladies. But before you celebrate Thanksgiving with your family and loved ones, why not throw a Friendsgiving with your squad? They help steer you away from bad fashion choices, help you craft the perfect text to your crush, and basically, will always be there for you (cue “Friends” theme song). So why not show them how thankful you are for them!
Thanksgiving is always a mad dash to get all the food done at the same time, but with Friendsgiving, you can really flex your hostess muscles. And who doesn’t want their Friendsgiving to go down in history as being the best ever? Here are 10 ideas, tips and games to achieve just that. Don’t worry, you can thank me later.
Invitations
Don’t invite your guests with a text – go the extra mile! Make a Facebook group or send a cute evite. This way, you can also link a Google Doc where everyone can sign up for a dish to bring. Don’t mind us, just killing two birds with one very chic stone.
Photo Wall
If you throw a Friendsgiving but didn’t Instagram it, did you even throw one at all? Grab some balloons, a few pumpkins and you’ve got yourself a cute photo station.
Go Hunt
Like the game Go Fish, but instead when you go hunting for a card and the person doesn’t have it, you drink. If you’re don’t want to take your drink, you do 10 push-ups. An easy, but very fun, drinking game.
Signature Cocktail
Every fabulous party, and fabulous hostess, has a signature cocktail. For an easy cocktail, get a champagne flute, add a splash of cranberry juice and a squeeze of lime. Top it off with Champagne and throw in a couple cranberries for garnish.
Faux Wish Bones
These cute décor items are even better because they’re interactive. You can make them yourself with some oven-bake clay and then put one on each place setting. Before eating, everyone gets to break one and make a wish. How cute is that?
Cute Disposable Plates
Doing dishes is objectively bad. But doing Friendsgiving dishes is the worst. Solution? Disposable plates, but make it fashion. They won’t clash with your décor and it makes for easy clean up. Win-win.
Thankful
After dinner is eaten up, and you’re too stuffed to move, play this fun game. Each person writes down two or three things their thankful for on little pieces of paper. It doesn’t have to be serious, it can be something like: “I’m thankful Magic Mike was produced.” Throw them all into a hat, mix them up, and take turns picking them out and guessing who wrote down what.
Dessert Bar
Dessert is great, but displaying all the desserts together on a cute table is even better. Make sure you take a picture before everything is eaten up!
Cards Against Humanity
Before everyone heads home, play the classic and hilarious game of Cards against Humanity. Not festive enough? Get yourself the Holiday Pack extension. That’ll bring some (naughty) festive cheer!
To Go Boxes
You’re going to have too much food after this. So, be the hostess-with-the-mostess and buy to go boxes. You can pack everyone a box and they’ll be so wowed you thought of this. Boom. You just won Friendsgiving.
