Dating and Romance in the World of Quarantine....Yes You Still Can...
Just because the world has practically stopped around us doesn’t mean we should put love on the back burner. Having a date with your bae can ease those ever-present thoughts of: “Soo when the hell is everything going to go back to normal??”
Don’t settle for the same old Netflix-and-chill date night though, get creative! Whether you live with your love or can only see them via Zoom, here are some date ideas that will help make your quarantine a little more romantic.
For the digital couples
Dinner Delivery Roulette
One of the few perks about self-isolation is food delivery. Instead of ordering your usual, swap locations with your bae and order for each other! The mystery is fun and impressing your significant other with your memory of how they like their burger will get you serious brownie points.
Game Night
A staple normal date night, so why not do it digitally? You can play classics like Uno or Monopoly, or try video games since many of those have multiplayer functions built right in.
Listen to a Horror Podcast
Instead of watching a horror movie you’ve both already heard of over Zoom, try a podcast! The best part about all of this is you get to share the podcast without having to share any of your bed! Here are some to try:
Back to Back Chef: Home Edition
If you’ve never seen this series on Bon Appetit’s YouTube channel, you’re missing out. Bascially, one chef has to verbally tell the other person how to cook a recipe. No peeking allowed until the recipe is done! Try this over Zoom with your bae and put your teamwork skills to the test!
For the live-in couples
Fancy Night
It’s one thing to cook and share a fancy meal, but why not pull out all the stops? Pick each other’s fancy outfits, light some candles, and do not forget dessert!
Create Self Portraits
If you’re crafty, you might have some paint or colored pencils lying around. Put them to good use and create self-portraits of each other. Drinking is not required, but highly encouraged for more of a challenge.
Make a Time Capsule
What better use of all this time than to make a couple’s time capsule? Write letters to each other, add pictures of what you both look like, and add small mementos. Put it away and don’t open it for 5 years!
Club Quarantine
If you and your bae miss the night-life scene, create it yourself! Pop some bottles, put on your favorite artist, and dance together late into the night.
