Black Owned Luxury Fashion Brands You Need To Know...

By Breanna Robinson

From signing important petitions, donating, and protesting over the past week and a half, there are  a myriad of ways to support  civil liberties and justice for the Black community, and take a stand against the police brutality and racism that is constantly being faced every day.

For many fashion aficionados, shopping at the Gucci and Prada stores is ideal, however, shopping for  Black owned brands and retailers is not only critically important, but it is one of the best ways to show solidarity for the community.  Unfortunately, the fashion industry has continuously exploited Black designers' work and culture for themselves , while these creatives of color experience unnecessary obstacles when it comes to funding their companies.

Essentially, the fashion industry and its entirety must hold itself accountable for the lack of diversity over the decades and acknowledge shortcomings when it comes to culture appropriation and blatant racism. Being able to address these things is important to propel the necessary equality within the industry.

Check out these eight high fashion designers that you should know about. Be sure to follow them and show support for their designs, uniqueness, and overall contribution to fashion as we know it:
