Australian Wildfires Have Made Social Media Response Go Viral
The devastating fires happening all over Australia, are trending on every social platform available. Celebrities take to their twitter and Instagram to campaign fundraising for the cause. Instagram influencers are using provocative philanthropy, to NASA satellite photography, to bring awareness to the severity of the fires. #Austraila has received the biggest response in contributions that Facebook has seen so far with social media influence raising millions of dollars. I’m happy to report the “social” in social media is being emphasized.
Australian comedian Celeste Barber raised $13 million dollars in just two days. Instagram influencer Kaylen Ward, raises over $700,000 by offering nude pictures to followers that donated a substantial amount to her designated charity and sent her the receipt. Her candid way of fundraising inspired other Instagram influencers in the same circle to offer a snapshot for money to support the cause.
Facebook reports through analyzing data, this global concern has the biggest reach in contributions, raising over $26 million dollars. The reason has to do with viral postings. Like, the one from Anthony who specializes in photography, and shared a photo taken by NASA satellite to depict the whole content suffering from the flames. Social media has made a very great impact on getting assistance in this time of crisis, it worked as a global first response team. Prayers to Australia.
