A Creative Seed Has Been Planted In Brooklyn

By Isabella Capponi

Before last night I was an NFT hater.

Well…maybe not a hater but I didn’t understand the concept of it.

Now, after attending a private reception at SEED Brklyn, I own one. I downloaded a coin base wallet (before this I thought coin base was Mario cart money), and scanned a QR code of a digital art piece and now that NFT is in my ethereum wallet (again sounds like something in a video game).

The venue is spaced out into three different sections which are all custom designed to make you feel invited and at home with their signature green hue in every room. There are live plants everywhere creating a unique experience mixing nature with technology. The first space is a coffee shop which serves the most delicious crème brûlée tasting cortado I’ve ever had. The second space is a retail section where you can find pieces from emerging artists as well as cultivated vintage pieces from designers such as Comme Des Garçons. The last section is The Oasis which is described as “an art experimental space and NFT gallery”.

The current art exhibit in The Oasis is called “SEED The Blockchain” and features artists such as Vince Fraser, Shay The Surrealist, Dante Beals, and Ceej Vega.

There are individual installations of digital moving NFTS along with tangible items to go along with them. For example, one NFT comes with a jacket and another designer is selling blankets and lighters that match their NFT.

My eyes were instantly drawn to an NFT filled with florals and butterflies. As I was admiring the art I realized I was standing next to the beautifully talented designer Shay The Surrealist. She told me the piece was inspired by her grandmother. I had never really understood that an NFT could be a deep and personal art piece, not just an ape with a space helmet, until this moment.

SEED, BRKLYN

Everyone that I met at the space was so full of energy, kind, and creative. You really feel welcome and comfortable to explore the space and take in the full experience.

This is the perfect space for crypto/NFT lovers, coffee connoisseurs, those with a green thumb, and fashion consumers. SEED Brykln opens October 21st.
