Just when it seemed like Angelina Jolie had reached the pinnacle of what it means to be a  philanthropist  juggling celebrity status, she makes strikes again! The mother of six (Maddox, 17,Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox), who has done crucial humanitarian work for years, continues to inspire the world with her advocation for the betterment of society’s children to garner change. To encourage this understanding, Jolie has  partnered with Microsoft Education and BBC Learning to jumpstart an English- Language TV show for both a  pre-pubescent and adolescent audience.

Jolie will produce a 30- minute 10-part weekly program  ( which is untitled and set to air this year sometime) that is directed towards promoting media literacy within the global realm for children aged 7-14. Research is continuously in motion to showcase that children and young adults becoming cognizant of the news, provoking their desire to sign up for social media accounts with information that may be impartial. As someone who is in their mid-twenties, I  didn’t have a cell phone nor understood how to look up news on the internet properly (  I know, unaware as ever), well until I was 16 .To a degree, this allowed myself ( and others like me ) to have a better understanding of the happenings in the world  while still being a kid.

Potentially, for the younger generations, this can result in adverse effects on their reactions to people and things they see,  due to brewing tensions of ideals when encountering  people outside of their cultural norms. That’s why documentation suggests that the  main priority of the series is to get children to have  access to unbiased information when it comes to  issues their peers face on a local and global scale. Very touching examples of this are  with her children  Maddox, being adopted from Cambodia, and Zahara from Ethiopia. The mere fact that she adopted children from countries who fought to survive in a world of famine and desperation speaks volumes on the fact that there are people out here with a f*** to give when it comes to human welfare.

It becomes crucial to understand that technological advancements have both provided a platform to share information, and  tools to educate oneself on the good and ugly of the world, despite the converse results  the youth may face.

"Children today are exposed to a lot of opinion, but not necessarily to information that is fact-based and reliable," said Jolie. It  will be a good way to create a dialogue of comfortability with children to ensure that they are unafraid of asking questions and develop critical thinking skills as productive members of society.

Therefore, when the English- language based edition of the show airs, adaptions of the show in  other languages will be in the works, further showcasing the need to  have representation and inclusivity of individuals on a  reputable platform no matter what their background is. So, despite my age, I will gladly tune in to see what’s in store for the educational program!

We can all learn a thing or two from Angie when it comes to building intellect and reducing ignorance from childhood .
