Tracy Reese Is The Bohemian Spirit We All Need
There’s something worth admiring when a designer can be so committed to bringing beauty and confidence to women of all walks of life such as fashion designer , Tracy Reese. Reese is an American designer born in Detroit, Michigan who is steadfast in creating signature rich, bold colors, and unique prints that have the needed touch of feminine, screaming modern woman ( the likes of Oprah and Michelle Obama have been known to wear her clothing as well!).
Reese is an alum of Parsons New School for Design, and in the midst of graduating, she apprenticed under the ethereal designer Martine Sitbon , and was also a notable design director for Perry Ellis Women’s Portfolio.
The TRACY REESE philosophy is rooted in a commitment to bring out the beauty in women of all ethnicities, shapes, sizes , and ages . Reese is inspired by the nature and global cultures around her , implementing these philosophies into her designs.
In the late ‘90s, Reese launched her eponymous collection, only to receive amazing reviews. By combining bright prints and hues with modern silhouettes and shapes, it brought to life immaculate designs that are quintessential for the sophisticated and powerful woman.
Her secondary collection, Plenty by Tracy Reese, was also released in the late ‘90s. Plenty encompasses the modern-day bohemian soul, offering distinct ensembles of jubilant color schemes and flirty details. The line caters to the versatility of everyday items in a sexy (‘70s goddess vibe) and graceful (as the working woman) way .
Now, if this doesn’t already sound good as it is, her creativity doesn’t stop there. In the Spring of 2014 , she launched plenty DRESSES by Tracy Reese which encapsulates the needs of the everyday woman who wants her fashion to take her from the office, to a special occasion. Utilizing the power of color, vibrant prints, and an air of femininity have made this brand a one of a kind.
These incredible designs further propelled her career. She proceeded to be featured in the top fashion publications including, Elle, Vogue, InStyle, Essence, and WWD to name a few.
Reese serves on the CFDA Board of Directors ( inducted since 2007), being a member since 2000. Expanding her understanding of social awareness, she is a champion for many charities and social issues—she advocates for HIV/AIDS charities , also serving on the AIDS Fund Committee for the New York Community Trust for half of a decade, proving her well roundedness in many aspects of life’s circumstances.
Plenty DRESSES by Tracy Reese, plenty by Tracy Reese, and Tracy Reese are distributed globally in specialty boutiques and top department stores , as well as European and Asian retailers ( talk about internationally acclaimed) !
Regardless of where or what pieces she's making, one thing remains clear: her ingenuity. This continued ingenuity adds charm and relatability to all women who have felt underrepresented and afraid to be themselves, now embracing their voice and creative intellect to make strides in the inclusivity of all women. Reese embodies divine feminine energy in all its glory.
