8 Ways To Make Sure You Don't Overkill With the Plaid This Year

8 Ways To Make Sure You Don't Overkill With the Plaid This Year

With Fall now in full effect it is time to put away the bikinis and flip flops and trade them in for something a bit more cozy. Plaid has always been one of the most popular patterns of this season but recently, it has skyrocketed in popularity. More companies are experimenting with different colored plaids, instead of sticking to the cliche plaid color combos. As a result, babes like you and me, are now able to be a bit more bold and stand out among the crowd while also wearing one of their favorite patterns. The most important thing to remember when wearing plaid is to let the pattern do the talking and not try to overstate it on every single item of clothing you are wearing. You don’t want to look like a walking throw blanket, do you? As a rule of thumb, it is usually best to wear one item with plaid and use the rest of the outfit as an accent to the fabric. Let me teach you the ways to slay the plaid….

Pants

Plaid pants have recently sprung up in style because they are very bold, and will definitely draw attention to you. The most important rule to follow when trying to own this look, is to leave the plaid to the pants. Don’t overdo it by adding plaid to every other part of the outfit. These plaid pants from Forever 21, look totally amazing with a black sweater like this one from Primark, and some ankle boots. These boots add just the right amount of edge to a look that will have you looking like a badass babe in no time!

Skirts

Another popular plaid piece is a plaid skirt like this one. This is a great go-to for a night out with the ladies or even your bae, as it can be both classy and causal. This skirt looks best when it is paired with a black pair of tights and a pair of heeled booties. And, may I add that this is great look for a holiday work luncheon, or daytime holiday party. It has that cozy, yet sexy vibe we all love this time of year! Sleigh girl, sleigh…..(you see what I did there…?) :)

Bomber jacket’s became all the rage a couple of years ago. They are a great addition to anyone’s closet as they will keep you warm, but are a lot more stylish than your standard coat. A great piece when you really want to amp up your fall or winter looks! Many celebs can be seen traveling all over the world wearing these jackets. A patterned jacket is the perfect way to tie an entire outfit together, or bring just the right amount of pop to an otherwise dull outfit. This specific jacket pairs perfect with a black leather skirt, and a bright pair of heels for an extra “damnnnnn” factor!

Jumpsuits are a great go-to because they can be basically whatever you need them to be! When styled a certain way, a plaid jumpsuit can be perfect for a day at the office, when work attire is necessary but they can also transition to a fun outfit to wear for a night out on the town. Plaid jumpsuits pair nicely with oversized sweaters. It will give them the Fall look that everyone is dying to achieve during this chilly season. Throw on a pair of fun earrings and you will find yourself turning heads all day. Styling tip: Wear jumpsuit with a cropped blazer for an elongated torso look, and a more polished look for night outings.

Peacoat’s have been popular for a pretty long time. Peacoat’s are great for formal outfits because they are heavy enough to keep you warm but also not bulky like other winter coats. A plaid peacoat will pair great with black leather pants and a bright colored blouse. This way the outfit is dynamic, bold, and eclectic.

These dresses are great for the fall because they can be paired with virtually anything from boots to sneakers. They are also great for layering so throwing a cardigan on, or a jacket will not take away from this outfit at all. This plaid t-shirt dress pairs well with some thigh high boots and a fun choker.

Scarves are your best friend in the colder months because they are practical but also an excuse to step out of the box a little bit. Over the years all black outfits have become extremely popular so adding a fun plaid scarf that pops is always a good idea. There are so many different color plaids, and with an all black outfit the possibilities are literally endless. This scarf looks great with some ripped black skinny jeans and a pair of cute sneakers.

Blazers

Blazers used to be reserved for business men and women, but they have become more popular when creating causal outfits. Blazers are a great way to stand out from the crowd because they show the wearer means business. A plaid blazer will stand out even more, especially when paired with the correct pieces. This plaid blazer looks best when worn with khaki colored jeggings and ankle boots. This is just the right amount of business on top, and party on the bottom!
