ICYMI: VMAs 2019 Most OMG Moments
My goodness what an amazing award show!
On Monday night, the 2019 MTV music awards settled in on New Jersey Prudential Center to host the excitement. It held the biggest musical artists of all genres in the game for an evening of unforgettable performances and awards.
At the beginning of the show, Taylor Swift had the crowd in awe with a live performance of her song “Lover” and most notably “You Need to Calm Down” from her latest album. She also supports the equality act thanks to her set design and incorporating inspiring voices from the LGBTQ community.
Before the show came to a close, stars such as Wyclef Jean, Queen Latifah, and rap legends Naughty by Nature and Ice Cube delivered New Jersey themed performances.
If you didn’t catch the show, here is a look into some of the most sought after performances and moments .
Marc Jacobs got the Fashion Trailblazers Award , and he’s the first to ever receive this honor. Yes Marc!
Talk about Hot Girl Summer! Megan Thee Stallion introduced fellow Houston artist Lizzo who had the crowd dancing and singing along to “Truth Hurts”, and “Good as Hell”. It was fantasstic!
Lil Nas X
Lil Nas X is quite the comedic. He opened up his performance with a little sketch of the success of his song “Old Town Road” , but he didn’t perform the song, he just lip-synced. What he did perform was a rendition of his song “Panini”. His performance was utterly galactic!
John Travolta ( and the award debacle)
When presenting Taylor Swift with the award for Video of The Year, Travolta mistook rag queen Jade Jolie for Swift. They do favor each other a little in looks!
Prior to achieving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, she stole the show with her nostalgic performance ! Even Alyson Stoner of Cheaper By the Dozen who reclaimed her role as one of Missy’s backup dancers. Just like the good old times !
J. Balvin and Bad Bunny
Dressed in tall inflatable suits, the duo performed their Oasis cut “Qué Pretendes” on TV for the first time. Let me just say, I was here for the pop oddity as they had me reminiscent of the Looney Tunes cartoons.
Normani aka the new ‘Beyonce’
The former Fifth Harmony member Normani performed song “Motivation” with a dance/gymnastics ensemble like her music video. From what I can see, she continues to cement her place in the industry.
It appeared to me that Miley Cyrus was giving us revenge body with the little black dress and wet hair look. She performed her newest single Slide away, which is significant in the fact that she just broke up with her husband Liam Hemsworth.
